Revenue from Microsoft Eastern Africa alone grew by over 60 percent, the third highest growth worldwide from any Microsoft subsidiary. MAPS 2002 was the first since the recent reorganisation of Microsoft business structure in Africa. The reorganisation saw the formation of a new subsidiary named Microsoft WECA (West East and Central Africa), with five sub-regional offices in Nigeria, Kenya, Cote d’Ivore, Mauritius and Namibia. Over the last few years, the Microsoft Partner Awards have been the highlight of the African Partner Summit, where Microsoft recognises and awards partners who have delivered exemplary customer solutions. MAPS 2002 was held together with Tech-Ed 2002, the premier technical education conference for Microsoft products and technologies, targeting IT Professionals and Developers which provides extensive networking opportunities in a highly stimulating learning environment. A key focus of the this years event was the .NET - Microsoft’s vision and platform for the third generation of Internet where software is delivered as a service, is accessible by any device, any time, any place and is fully programmable and customisable. Representatives from Microsoft Corporation were present at the summit to review and demonstrate a series of exciting new products and technologies including .NET initiatives. |
